A full morning of fun, exercise, community interaction and painless learning will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a health fair, silent auction and quilt drawing. All proceeds will support FL-WR’s work to promote literacy in schools and beyond, and to build Waikoloa’s first public library.

The health fair will include onstage demos, exhibits and information from 14 different organizations. On hand to answer questions about health and fitness will be Dr. Juan Guera from Aina Hou Animal Hospital with pet tips and veterinary information, healthy food information from Blue Zones Project and smoothies made on their smoothie bike, and easy warm-up demos by Island Heart Care.

CPR basics will be provided by Island CPR, while Hawaii Yoga for Every Body will offer yoga lessons and breathing exercises. An exhibit of naturopathy and acupuncture and chemical free cleaning will be provided by Aloha Natural Health, as well as information from National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). Hawaii Aerial and Performing Arts will provide aerial arts and safety for keiki and adults, while Tutu’s House offers information on community health and wellness resources.

Flu shots and health information will be provided at KTA Waikoloa Village Pharmacy, along with free blood sugar, blood pressure and other screenings from West Hawaii Community Health Center. To get the heart pumping, Zumba fitness will be led by Aunty Maile and Kehaulani.

For a free massage, stop by Mokupuni Massage’s booth. Information from Tutu and Me Traveling Preschool and Home Visiting Program will be provided.

A favorite every year is the handmade quilt donated by the Waikoloa Sew ‘n’ Sews, who for 2017 created a beautiful Asia-inspired quilt with the look of hand-dyed batiks in shades of blue and indigo. Participants can make a donation to FL-WR for a chance to win this one-of-a-kind fabric artwork.
